Spy Ware Help!?

Recently infected with spyware and inundated with pop-ups. Running ATT Yahoo online Protection but it is not helping. Running Windows XP. Tried to download Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool message returned need SP2 When downloading message stated already have SP2. I am running in Circles! Also cannot access my Control Panel or get to System Restore- Computer Freezes or Restarts. Do I have to reinstall Windows or can I avoid that? Please Help!

Try running your security programs in safe mode. This works a lot of the time because the malware isn't loaded in safe mode.

You may have to download a program such as Super Antispyware to a CD or Flash Drive using another computer and then installing on the infected one. Here is a link to Super Antispyware free for home users. It is probably the best antispyware on today's market.

Install Super Antispyware free. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

If the popups are telling you your computer is infected then it may be a Smitfraud problem. Use the Smitfraudfix in the link below. Be sure to read the instructions carefully.
