As a fully paid Symantec subscriber, I repeatedly got the message about a threat-- trojan.peacomm, and an urgent request to protect my computer by clicking "protect me now." Every time I tried, it said they cannot protect me at this time. Tonight I got an advertisement suggesting I buy another Symantec product for the very thing they were warning against. I paid for virus protection. Is everyone being ripped off?

Do a search for AVG free (you can find it at download.com as well). Download and install the free version and you can dump Norton completely. AVG does a better job and doesn't put a huge drag on the system like Norton does.
