Help i got a problem :(?

Ok this started id say around 3 months ago but i haventhad the internet on my computer in like 8 months (this is someone elses) and everytime i turn on my comp and try to run a program like a game or something the comp just stops and automatically shuts off and i dont even have time to do anything, but after i restart it its fine until the next time i turn it off then back on what is wrong with it?? virus??? trojan??? spyware ??? i tried a spyware program and it didnt come up with anything but my virus protection is out of date so could it be a virus that my program isnt catching,, from when i was on the internet or what??

this happened to my grandma, u should take it to a software company, i just think its overfilled. Take it to dell or a friend who knows what to do

Could be quite a few things. Whatever it is, though, it sounds like your computer is in serious need of a fresh installation of Windows (I find this to be cheaper and more effective than spending days and dollars on spyware, adware, and anti-virus that won't always catch it all). If you CAN boot up your computer safely, salvage any files (pictures, school papers, other important documents, etc) you want to save by burning them onto a CD or getting one of those USB flash drives. After this, reboot your computer with the Windows CD in the CD-Rom. Tell the computer to boot from CD. Follow the instructions to delete your current partition (this will wipe out everything on your computer so you can start from scratch) and re-install Windows.
well you can install counter spy it's a really good program and it detects every thing lik i have it and like it's really good i had the sam thing as you i think and like i used it it did not do anthing but then like my dad did something to it and it works fine now%26gt;
SUMJONE ELSE USING UR COMP, I DUNNO HOW IT CALLS HACKING OR SUMFIN, YE SUMONE STOLE IT
