My comp. runs vids and games REALY slow... HELP plz?

i dont know what is wrong with my computer... its runs... ok i guess but every time i try to load a movie or a game it takes SO LONG! im trying to play the popular game stick rpg complete and it has been saying that it is 68% loaded for 3 HOURS!!! ive tried every website there is with the game on it. and at my moms house the computer ( THE EXACT SAME TYPE OF COMPUTER AS HERE) has the same internet pluss a thousand things like limewire and a bunch of games that should slow it down but its realy realy REALY fast! i dont know what to do. its been this slow for about a year and ive rebooted it, ive cleaned it from spare files, ive got virus protection (the best u can get, norton) and please dont suggest me getting a new internet provider. ive tried. DONT EVEN SUGGEST IT. but any other suggestions would be greatly appriciated. thank you
