Desktop wallpaper?

Okay so my computer was basically infected with the following "virus":

1- blood red web page filling my desktop with the message "Your Privacy is in Danger - Download privacy protection software now"

2 - desktop icons for "Spyware%26Protection", "PrivacyProtector","ErrorClean...

I've gotten rid of the icons as well as the background but my original wallpaper hasn't been restored, I've tried to right-click on the desktop but when I do there is no "desktop" option, there is only general and it says "unavailable." My background as of now is blank/white and I can only select one icon at a time. Can anyone help me?

When it comes to viruses, especially ones that take over your Windows registry, a format is the best thing. I have had some viruses like that and they are usually impossible to remove. You can try to use anti-spy-ware/virus/ad-ware programs to get rid of it, but they don't always work. Depending on how new the virus is usually determines the ability to get rid of it.

Use these programs, they are free and usually solve the problem:

-Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoft.com

-Crap Cleaner http://www.ccleaner.com

-Spy-bot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index...
