oh my god... i feel so stupid i downloaded sumthing i was not supposed to and now i have a virus on my brand new computer someone please help! my mom and dad will slit my throat! i havent got any sorta of virus protection and its really bad! ahhhh!! please help me?

Download AVG Free Edition, CCleaner, SpyBot Search %26 Destroy, or AdAware.
Same thing has happened to me before..many times..
If those programs don't do the trick, then restart the computer in safe mode and delete the file/thing you downloaded from there and hope to god it didn't affect any registry files.

Well, if you have no software to try to get rid of it, you could try download AVG for free and giving it a shot, might work or at least tell you what you have.
The safest solution would be a reformat or system restore if you have the operating system's disc. It isn't hard, that way they wouldn't find out really.
