each time i open up internet explorer, or recently fire fox, i get sent to random pages that offer fake virus scanners and other stuff, and also opens about 5 blank pages. and when i try to close out of the virus protection websites, a window sometimes pops up and say things like "your computer is unprotected, closing this is dangerous" and stuff like that, then it leads me to another website. it isn't as bad with fire fox, but i know more about internet explorer and preferr it.
and yes, i have tried to run a virus scan, but i get no results.
i currently use norton internet security.
please, i have alot of important files on this computer and i can't afford to lose them. (however none of them give out too much info, so thats a good thing a guess)

Get a good anti-spyware/adware + anti-virus and scan your computer fix everything you find. Uninstall any toolbars or extra "adhelper" applications that may have installed without your consent. Just scan my Add/Remove programs list in your Control Panel for any unknown applications you have installed. Or you can back up your data and then try to run a clean installation of your OS.
