get a good firewall software and anti virus software. Try www.avg.com for the anti virus software. if you have a hardware router then you don't have to worry about the firewall software.
Apart from the first answer (very good) change your password to something very hard to guess. 90% of hacking is done by people who know enough about someone to guess the password. Also if you use wireless set encryption.
