Do you know if there is anything i can do for my disc drive?

i recently had some viruses and adawares that attached them selfs to my computer by posing as a virus cleaner program well my cousin came over with a program that wiped the viruses and fake virus protection program but now my disc drive wont read any disc i put in no message pops up it just wont read them is there a way i can fix this problem so i can finally install a new disk i bought i really dont have any money for a knew one is there anyway i can fix it

OK, lets try a few things here.

Firstly insert music CD. If nothing comes up go to My Computer and double click on the drive. Does anything happen?

If it comes with the same message try playing a DVD movie. What happens then? If it plays then you would need to clean the CD Driver. If you don't have a DVD driver and just an ordinary CD driver. Click on start, control panel, once there go to system. Click on Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. You'll see a list of your PC hardware is there anything regarding your CD? If it's not there it's been uninstalled. If uninstalled you will see a icon saying computer right click on that and scan for changes. This should see your CD Driver.

If it is installed and nothing else works, you could buy a CD cleaner. As your driver maybe dirty. If that doesn't work then I suspect you would have to a new driver.
