Why when we already have many socialized programs in place here in the US, do people not want universal health care? Is it only because it is different and unknown from status quo. Our fire, police, education (k-12) are all socialized programs. Does it not make sense that health care be something we are afforded as citizens, not as a luxury. What if your house was on fire and the firemen showed up to put it out but ask you to present your "fire insurance" card prior to saying your family or home OR What if they denied you protection for some reason.
I know the major issue is paying more in taxes but we already pay insurance premiums and co-pays, etc. Don't you think the costs would off-set one another?
Wouldn't people prefer for their doctor to be in charge of their care than some under payed insurance company employee sitting behind a computer??
Universal health care.. Why not?free spyware
Ah, a voice of reason. Good on you.
I'm a bit of a traveller and have lived in various countries with socialised medicine, it works, and it works really really well, there are gaps, people do fall through them, there are horror stories, there are hospitals that don't run efficiently- but these countries have no preventable endemics like typhoid (in which America is the only developed country in the world to still have typhoid as a possible affliction), every person has the right to the best possible health given their lifestyle and pre-existing medical conditions and it doesn't cost a great deal of cash- also there is always affordable private health care as an option for those with the cash.
