Sloooooooow Laptop....advice?

My Acer laptop is about 2 years old. I have virus protection and spyware. The only additional program that is installed on it is Microsoft Word. However, my computer runs really really slow. It is really frustrating and it takes a long time to get anything done. Any ideas on how to make it run faster??

Download CCleaner http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.html?t... and run it, it cleans out a lot of unneeded crap in your system.

Download Spybot, http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.html?t... and run the scan, most likely you have some spyware on your pc because you've been running it for 2 years and you didnt mention you scanned.

Also, go to Start %26gt; My Computer %26gt; right click on your C drive %26gt; Properties %26gt; Tools %26gt; Defragment now %26gt; select your C drive and hit defragment. This will probly help a lot with your slow problem.

Try all that and see if you get some speed back, I'm sure you will, and if you want some more tips message me or something I'd be glad to help.

reformat the pc from scratch
take it to bestbuy to the geek-squad

and ask them to give the laptop a

clean sweep.
Go to crucial.com and get a free scan and get some more RAM. But also do a disk cleanup, get rid of temp internet files,etc.. Better yet just download CCleaner, it's free, and let it do it's thing. And then I would defragment the hard drive ALL PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-SYSTEM TOOLS-DISK DEGRAGMENTER
try cleaning up the harddrive, theres certain programs you can run (without downloading) that will clean everything up...like there should be a disk clean-up somewhere on there and it will help some, theres a lot of "gaps" in your computers memory and this helps close those so it will run faster, also try deleting old files you dont need anymore
Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant,corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
