Security for dr office?

what security is needed for a doctor office ? any software ? processes needed ? any idea if you need password protections etc for each file ? area ? system ? to be in compliance with HIPPA

the goal is to automate the processes . upload / scan and transcribe all the paper files for the first time to computer

get a budget software

prescripe and print your prescriptions / sign / track your records

send your bills / receive your payments / have a clue if you are making money ? spending too much money . get deposits to bank checks deposited

anyone have any idea how to do this ?

Security for dr office?antivirus

Depending on the staff size of your office and what it is you need secured?

I have done several Dr's offices. We start by putting them on a network, password protecting each PC and Tablet and require password changes every 30 to 45 days. Selected PC's and tablets have access to facsimile and printers.

All PC's and Tablets run the same Anti-Virus solution and firewall (AVG) see link 1 below. All PC's, Tablet, Faxes have monitoring installed to record what the employees are doing.

As for EMR software two of the offices use a bundled software by the same provider (adsc - see link 4) for record management (128 bit encryption). I hope this was a bit informative and provided you with some resources (links 2 and 3), any questions or concerns please ask, it can be confusing with Hipaa.
