Diasbling BIOS memory?

i have some sort of virus. everytime i try to run a virus scan a blue screen pops up telling me to restart the computer and if the problem continues to disable bios memory like caching and shadowing.it is also interfering with programs like internet explorer/firefox and my virus protection keeps telling me there is a trojan horse that was removed and it keeps popping up and won't go away. Can anyone help?

Forget the BIOS issues. Unless the small "watch battery" on your system board went dead and you had a power failure, your BIOS is fine. BIOS is the Basic Input Output System. It is in firmware on your main system board. It does major tasks for the system like: PCI Video is at address xxxx, Modem detected on PCI xxxx, 3com GB ethernet card on PCI xxxx. BIOS configures the hardware that makes everything "HAPPY" so the Operating system (usually Windows) can load from the Hard Drive (specified in the BIOS config). Your system is infected with malware. Software that is malicious. It either popups you to the point of ????? or disables stuff.

You have picked up somthing. If you use MS IE, it could have been as simple as clicking on a site that you wanted out of as quick as possible. We have all been there. My advice is clean your system using all of the available tools, or bring it to me. snicker (My company is in the PC Fixit sector).

On the helpful side:

Clean your system. Verify it is clean. Stop System Restore service. Re-Boot. Start System Restore.

Re-Boot

Save a restore point.

Re-Boot

Good to go.

Just my opinion and not necessarily that of my employer (me).

You might want to check your firewall and you'll need to delete the virus if the file can't be cleaned. I know on my computer, once the BIOS is activated, you can't disable it, so I'm not sure what to tell you about that. Good Luck!
