Preventative maintenance, a thing of the past?

Why do so many people wait until they need their furnaces to decide to have it checked, because something is broken. Then they want it fixed yesterday, because they are cold.

Do you wait until the car dies before you change the oil? Check the coolant levels? Do you wait until a tire goes flat to decide, "oh maybe I should check the air in the tires"?

If your computer is running slow, Do you wait until it says "error" and barely starts up, before you clean the cookies, clean the temp files, run live update on your virus protection, etc. etc.? Probably not.

Why wait to get furnaces, heaters, heat pumps, boilers, water heaters, a/c units checked?

yahoo has a calender to schedule and tell you ahead of time for items that you put in. It is like change smoke detector batteries when you change the time from dst to normal time, spring and fall. Same goes for appliances.

Sorry, I will get off of soap box now.

i being an hvac contractor and buissnes owner kow for a fact that preventative maintenance can save you more money than just having to replace the broken unit if it gets serviced regularly it can keep your utility bills lower than they would be if you didn't

More and more people are doing it themselves and saving money. For far too many years hvac service companies have ripped off home owners.
I like the saying, "pay me now, or pay me later."
