The mental health act is meant to protect the service user but can only do so if it complies with human rights act to ensure they are treated fairly and equally. The data protection of 1984 ensures doctors can not pass on confindential information regarding a persons mental health. The capacity act protects the persons woth mental health problems be ensuring the get the help support and possible benefits they need. Im not to sure if mental health act superceeds all the other acts the all must comply with each other to ensure human rights therefore the european act on human rights is probally the most important hope this helps get back if u need more info
just get a life and find something useful to do with your computer, why would you want to write about stuff like that anyway, are you a student trying to impress someone or are you using drugs.

First, the term service user is misleading. Technically, in this era of commissioning services, the PCT who pays for the service is the service user. If you are referring to patients, bear in mind that most people with mental health problems are not ever seen by psychiatrists and community mental health teams, and in addition, many GP's find that the mental health teams do the best they can to not see patients. So calling patients service users when most never get to use the service is a bit silly...
