This is a tough one, for me anyway. I've looked around but no answer seems to fit.
Here's what happens when I boot my computer and the desktop appears: first I get a DEP message (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/68/162018... about windows explorer. Next, I see windows explorer restarting several times. Next, DrWatson crases. Next: nothing. Task manager (ctrl-alt-del) lets me reboot, starting the whole process from the top.
I've now disabled DEP protection and drwatson. The result is that after bootup I see windows explorer appearing and restarting a few times (taskbar appears %26 disappears, no DEP message of course), followed by an empty desktop, no taskbar. Task manager still responds and I can start applications using File%26gt;Run, but I obviously want my start menu and windows explorer back. :)
Ideas anyone?

1. Try safe mode bootup and if successful,
Uninstall anything you had installed recently.
Insert WinCD and goto cmd prompt - type sfc /scannow
2. If safe mode is not working try repairing windows installation using WInXP Boot CD option.
