Am I about to get laid off?

The office manager was told to lay off 2 office workers. One person has already been laid off...warehouse personnel promoted to trainee HVAC designer leaving 1 more person to be laid off. There are only 2 obvious choices...myself and a designer.

Myself - Administrative Assistant

Phones, city permits, programming, some computer tech work for both this office and corporate. The office manager has said a week ago, before the lay off news that the scheduler is supposed to handle all permitting issues b/c he wants me doing other stuff.

The designer - Does large customs and trak homes. Walks jobs, meets with clients, designs layouts, submits bids for potential new jobs (wins about 1 or 2 each month). Has been very ill over the past few months from a tumor. Says that he's under special medical protection b/c of doctor's letter...ie can't be fired or laid off.

I'm in Texas. The housing market in the surrounding area has been in a big decline/slump for a little over a year.

Id say start looking for work in your spare time, just to get a head start if things go wrong

I sure hope not, but it seems to be happening alot lately. If it does happen to you which I hope it does not, goto this site and register, it has a listing of all kinds of jobs that you can freelance yourself for. It will probably hold you over until you get back to work.
